Our
goals
The
change will come - and we don't offend it. But it can be disburdened for the
Himba tribe and thus not become the trauma, like other cultural changes were
for different people. Therefore we concentrate on project with sustainable
effects in the following fields:
- Documentation
and conservation of the Himba Culture
We will try to document and conserve
the cultural heritage of the Himba together with a group of dedicated Himba.
Customs, culture as well as the daily life will be documented in picutres
and descriptions and thus be kept for the posterity.
- Improvement
of conditions of life, especially for health
The hospitals in the Kaokoland are also open for the Himba. But there is
a considerable problem for them - the cost of treatment. The stay in a hospital
as well as all medication and treatment has to be paid by the patients -
patients, who never need any money. For many Himba this hurdle is too high.
We will concentrate on the treatment of children, especially in precaution,
e.g. with free immunization for kids.
- Construction
of the change
We will help the Himba, to ease the
transition into a world in coexistence with the western culture. The necessary
transformation process should be as smooth as possible. Therefore we support
projects for setting up self-employed small businesses, if these will build
on traditional culture and not destroy it. Help for self-help is the major
topic, especially if the natural resources of the country will be considered.
We will support projects, that enable the Himba to participate in the growing
tourism, like the building and running of local camp grounds or the edication
and initial support of business creation.
All
net receipts of our activities will be invested into projects in these three
fields - without overhead cost, directly with the Himba.
We
finance the projects by sales of documentation and foto-calenders as well
as donations..
